Privacy notice
Updated 18 October 2026.
Life OS is made to keep your life on your own devices. This notice explains what this website collects, what the app does with your data, and the rights you have. It is written for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French law.
Who is responsible
Life OS is a product of Lorne & Vale. The data controller is LORNE VALE, trading as Lorne & Vale, a French SAS registered with the Strasbourg Trade and Companies Register under number 107 702 185, whose registered office is at 30 Chemin des Friches, 67500 Haguenau, France. For any question about your data, write to contact@lornevale.com.
This website
The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising trackers, and loads no fonts or scripts from other companies. It is hosted by Vercel Inc., a company based in the United States. Like any host, Vercel may record short technical logs (IP address, date, page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure; they are kept for the short periods Vercel sets and can be processed in the United States.
Sign-up
If you enter your email address in “Get notified”, we use it for one thing: to send you one email when Life OS can be installed. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. The address is not sold or used for anything else. It is stored by the email service that sends that message, which processes it on our behalf, and it is deleted after that email is sent, or earlier if you ask. Sign-up is not open yet: what you type in this preview is checked in your browser and not sent or stored. When it opens, this notice will name the email service.
The Life OS app
- No account and no server. Your records are stored on your iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac. Life OS has no iCloud sync, so each device keeps its own data. The watch and the iPhone exchange data directly with each other.
- Backups are files you keep. You can export everything to a backup file (a folder when the vault holds documents) and import it again; where you keep it is up to you.
- Permissions you choose. With your permission, the app reads Apple Health (steps, active energy, sleep, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, weight and body fat, and heart rate, energy and distance during a watch workout) and saves workouts, weight, water and, if you turn it on, meals you log; it reads your calendar and can add events and time blocks to it, reads a contact you pick, and uses the camera, microphone and speech recognition when you log something. Dictation uses Apple’s speech recognition, on the device when the device supports it.
- The assistant. By default it runs on Apple’s on-device model, and those requests stay on your device. You can turn it off. If you add your own Anthropic API key, the meal photos you choose to analyse are sent to Anthropic, even while the assistant runs on Apple’s model. If you also choose Claude as the assistant, your requests and the data each one needs are sent too. This happens under Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy, and the usage is billed to your Anthropic account. The key is kept in the Keychain.
- Barcodes. When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product.
- Lock. The document vault is locked with Face ID or your passcode.
Lorne & Vale receives none of the data you keep in the app.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold (for this website, that is only your email address if you signed up), to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to contact@lornevale.com. If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or to the authority of your country.
Changes
We will update this notice if what we collect changes, and change the date at the top.
